Artist, Games designer, sculptor are just a few words that describe my abillities and also shape aspects of my personality.
I have been drawing for 8+ years with a strong focus on digital art. Before that it was the tradtional pencil and paper. It was a strange transition but the result was worth it. Digital art has alot of benefits, not only are you able to produce a wide variety of artwork, there are also a great deal of resources to help availiable. Theres also the added bonus of being able to apply the your new skills to other mediums and creative endevours.
Such as video games, I draw my creativity mostly from the culture that helped define a generation and brings all kinds of people together. I mostly favour RPGs. I’m a sucker for enthralling worlds, engrossing stories and interesting characters. Of course thats not all I play, as long as Its interesting and fun, I’ll go out of my way to experience it.
With such a strong love for games, natrually I would have the desire to create them. My first venture into this field was a personal project where I designed a sequel to overlord 2. I really pushed myself to anyalise the flaws of the series and come up with solutions. My next project was my first attempt on creating something playable. Having been a fan of Sonic the hedgehog since childhood I wanted to make my own Sonic game. Having a phobia of code, I found a premade engine and set to work modifying it to my needs and replacing all the artwork. It never went past the first 2 levels but gave me a taste of what it was like to actually make a game.
Fast forward to 2015 and I am studying a degree in games design and have already built up a wealth of knowledge and resources I need to make that great game in the sky. Of course theres always something else to learn and new experiences to have which will improve the end result. I cant wait, if your not looking to get better at every stage, then you aren’t going anywhere.
